A month of Pai…

Phew…is anyone else all kinds of Christmas crazy?? I love it so and don’t mean to sound at all grinchy (given my normal state is the exact opposite) but I am finding the sudden influx of extra jobs and social plans a bit overwhelming at times. On the plus side, I’ve temporarily abandoned my office for our dining table, which I’ve dragged into the lounge, so I can work surrounded by the Christmas decorations and fairy lights. Ahhhh….sparkles.

To add to the madness, a week ago we had our first Black Friday in the UK. While I’m a sceptic about events like this, which seem designed to whip us into such a frenzy that we fail to spot that many of the discounts aren’t much better than sales that were running a matter of weeks ago, I can still spot a bargain when it comes along.

My Black Friday experience was an online one from the comfort and quiet of my house. But it did get a bit squealy when I saw Pai‘s offering. Buy a full size 3-step skincare kit for less than full retail price (my hydrating kit including the Camellia & Rose Gentle Cleanser, Lotus & Orange Blossom Bioaffinity Toner and Avocado & Jojoba Hydrating Day Cream set me back £75, a £10 saving on buying all three products separately) and get a complementary exfoliator, calming serum and eye cream for….NOTHING. Which is a stonking deal, particularly since the toner and all three GWP products – Echium and Argan Gentle Eye Cream, Instant Calm Redness Serum and Kukui and Jojoba Bead Skin Brightening Exfoliator – were on my wishlist. I was so taken with online feedback about the calming serum that I nearly bought it a couple of weeks back. I’ve used and loved the cleanser and moisturiser in the past, and I’m a big fan of the Rosehip oil. So this really was a Black Friday gem.

After a busy time and a weird flare up on my face that had me reverting to basics for about a week, Pai – with it’s top notch credentials for those with ‘delicate’ faces – is exactly what I need right now.

So I’ve decided that I’m going to test it out properly and use only my new Pai kit for a month, starting from the 20th December when I’m hoping to break up for Christmas. I’ll let you know how it goes.

And in the meantime, there’s so much I want to tell you about. I just need to find the time to do it!

Anyone else get any Black Friday bargains?

  1. I totally succumbed to this deal and got the same kit as you did! I kindly received the Instant Calm serum about a month ago and it’s done wonders to my skin so knowing that I would have to stock up on it was the deal breaker for buying this kit. It was my first Pai product ever and I’m looking forward to trying out the rest of the line. I had smelled the Lotus toner before and was really keen on getting it so very happy it was included in the deal. I agree you about the Black Friday deals (such an unfortunate name as well) that many deals are no better than the ones given at other times but Pai’s really was good- I had to read it several times before I actually believed what I was getting haha! Enjoy your kit and I look forward to reading your review about it! Xx

    • Thanks. I actually caved and started a little earlier – post on its way! – and I’m really impressed so far. Something is working wonders, even if I can’t isolate one particular thing. Perhaps it’s the Instant Calm serum based on your experiences… x

  2. Hey lovely, great post (and so true about people getting so swept up in ‘deals’!). Can’t wait to hear how you get on with your month of Pai and hope that you can break up for Christmas on the 20th as hoped. With you on the festive overwhelm, Christmas has definitely had to take a back seat for me this year…not easy when you’re a festive fiend! 🙂 xx

    • Thanks Gemma. I’m finally ‘on leave’ and really looking forward to catching up on myself a bit. And all of those things I wanted to do as a freelance that ended up taking second place to the work… Hope you’re having a lovely Christmas break by now too. x

  3. Just about to order my first Pai cream, have two other facial products I love – oil and mask. Can you recommend any good foaming cleansers? I currently use the Trilogy cream cleanser, but try as I might my makeup (tinted moisturiser) seems to get stuck in my rather (huge pores), and I find myself having to wash about 3 times to get it all off. So I have decided to switch to try out their gel one.

    • I hardly ever use foaming cleansers as my dry, sensitive skin gets a bit intolerant to them after a while. But I did once use Organic Surge’s Daily Care Face Wash and found it surprisingly gentle. Plus it’s a budget buy so wouldn’t be too expensive a mistake if it turned out not to be quite right for you.
