June passed in a haze. When I think of it, it feels a bit like it happened to someone else. Someone who was lucky enough to go on holiday to the South of France with my husband and my whole family but also someone who spent many hours agonising over websites, hosting companies, CV updates and how it’s possible to sound friendly, approachable and definitely not desperate when contacting people about potential work.
As such, I haven’t thought much about my June favourites but I’ve been casting my mind back and have a few candidates.
Let’s start with a break from the usual skincare bits and bobs.
Whenever I’m feeling a bit stretched I have a tendency to let my food habits slip towards the convenient and sugary end of the spectrum. I know it won’t help but the lure of the short-term fix is harder to resist! Add to that the French goodies (oh the wine! the bread! the CHEESE!) and I needed a reboot.
When sunning myself in the Languedoc-Roussillon, I used a lot of my Clarins Sun Care Milk for Children. Don’t be fooled by the children bit. I picked this one because I was struggling to find something I could test before purchasing and I noticed it used 100% mineral UV filters. Not all the ingredients are shiny white but it’s really not bad compared to the rest of the high street. More on this one soon.
All of this sunshine means more shaving and de-fluffing, so the Miessence Shaving Gel* I’ve been testing out came in for a lot of use. I usually just use whatever conditioner I currently have on the go but it was nice to use a dedicated product for once and the aloe vera seemed to help with post-shaving irritation and dryness.
When it came to skincare, I decided that I’d pack on a theme for my holiday and go with all rose. This included my beloved rose hydrosol from Quinessence, the Melvita Rose Fresh Moisturising Body Milk that I wrote about here and something I’ve had in my cupboard for an age but have only started using recently, the Superfacialist Rose Hydrate Cleanser, which I really, really like.
In other news, I’ve been using the much-raved about MuLondon White Chocolate Elbow, Knee and Heel Cream and I’m completely hooked. It’s my new all-time favourite smell and has pride of place by my bed. And who says you can only use it on elbows, knees and heels? Not me, that’s for sure.
I will eventually write more on all of the above. Now….back to that CV.
