May favourites: top three

Ooh look! A May favourites post and it’s only just June. *pats self on back*

Short and sweet today (just three instead of the usual five):

  • Kimberly Sayer Anti-Oxidant Daily Moisturising Cream SPF30, £25.80, available from LoveLula in the UK – I’ve spent a lot of time recently working on an update to my 2012 sunscreen post, which will be with you by mid-June. As a result I’ve been trying out yet more sunscreens and scouring shelves and ingredients lists online to try and find some good tip offs. I found my holy grail facial sunscreen in early May and I hope we shall never be parted. I’ll review this in full in the next few weeks. My mini review for the purposes of my May round-up just reads ‘IloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveitIloveit’.

  • Bodhi & Birch Rosemary Chi Himalayan Detox Salt Scrub*, £35 – Now that my legs and arms are on display a bit more, I’ve stepped up my exfoliating. I’ve also been venturing into fake tanning for the first time ever (*gulp*) and so a smooth, even surface is a must. I rather love this scrub and will dedicate a separate post to it because it deserves one.

  • Lavera Self Tanning Lotion, £13.50, available from Naturisimo – I mentioned the fake tan…and it’s this one. So far I’ve been patch testing but I’m about to go and cover myself in it. I have high hopes because the (hidden) patches went a lovely subtle golden colour (no orange here, people). I’m a bit anxious about my knees and elbows but nothing ventured…as they say. Wish me luck! I’ll come back soon with more information and I’ll try and take some pictures too.

*PR sample – all opinions are my own.

    • As you can see(!), I’m a big fan of the Kimberly Sayer cream! Finding a physical sunscreen, with zinc oxide, that didn’t leave me looking like a ghost or make me feel like my face was buried under a layer of heavy, greasy goo has been the work of years. It’s no wonder I’m a bit chuffed! Fx

    • I’d say it’s worth it, despite the price making it more of a wishlist option than an impulse buy. You know when your skin’s so soft that you keep touching it, even though you’re risking funny looks from strangers? That! x

  1. I love love love love the Bodhi scrub too! I have the Lavera fake tan, it was the first natural one that I tried & its really good…don’t be scared its not orange & doesn’t streak if you apply carefully. Tip – bend your knees & elbows when applying to really get into all the nooks & crannies!

    • Thanks for the tip! I’ve been having mixed success with it but I’ll report on that in more detail soon. My initial enthusiasm has waned somewhat but I’m still fairly sure the problem is with me and not the product!
